Podcasts have become a simple and very effective way to communicate with students. They are easily downloaded onto iTunes and then can be put onto an iPod. Teachers choose to use podcasts because they can use voice recordings to further a child's understanding of a certain topic. In addition, they can include such things as pictures, sound effects and movie clips. They allow the student to go beyond the traditional ways of displaying information. They can make presentations more stimulating and grasp a childs attention. Teachers can also use podcasts for parents. They can record the assignments due, or explain an upcoming activity, to easily inform the parents. Students can also create their own podcasts for an assignment that can be shared with their classmates. When podcasts are finalized, there is even an opportunity to add them to the iTunes store for purchasing. Podcasts are very effective in the classroom, whether it be to explain an assignment, help children study, or inform parents.
